Revved up Austin Clocks ’40′

How well does an Austin drive? Obviously very well, as Austin Curran proved last week. Austin had a stupendous 40 points over the 14 holes to claim the weekly winners’ prize in the Winter League. Even though we are playing a slightly shortened course, it is still a great score. Many of us lesser mortals would be delighted with 40 points over the 18 holes! Well done Austin.

“Funtastic” Quiz

A very enjoyable evening was had by all who attended the Fun Quiz on Saturday evening in the clubhouse ably organised by Leslie McConkey and question master Ollie McLoughlin. Thanks also to the promoter of the event Ivor Lendrum who obviously did a good job as we had 14 tables! There was a great range of questions ranging from nursery rhyme details to politics, something for everyone and after 10 rounds the victors were Team 11 with 86 points, well done to our Secretary Paddy McKeown (we said you were bright!), Jimmy & Emer McGeough and Colm McCormac. In 2nd place was Team 1 with 84 points Eddie & Marie Sherry, Anthony McGonnigal and Deirdre McGuigan and in 3rd place was Team 12 with 82 points with the Hickey family (Kevin, Anne-Marie and Conor) and Captain Sean Bonner. Well done to everyone and a big thank you to all who came to support the event. Thanks also to Teresa Hanawin for her kind donation to the evening and to Tamara McConkey and Pat Fee the adjudicators and scorers. Captain Sean Bonner thanked the assembled crowd for their attendances and also Ollie for his great questions a really enjoyable evening.
