This Friday 28th September until Thursday 4th October the ever popular Matthews Week (yes folks it’s a whole week this year!) for ladies and gents will be held, this Single Stableford repeater competition is for 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes for both genders at a cost of €8 first play then €5 to repeat and you can play as many times as you wish! We would like to thank our generous sponsors Mary & Genie McCaughey of Matthews of Clones for their continued support. This will be their 20th year of sponsoring this competition!
Winner of the Kilmore Hotel sponsored Monthly Medal for September was Brendan Gilroy with 68 nett. Martin Clegg second with 69 and another fabulous gross win for Donal O’Reilly with 77.
The ladies compete in the last 18 hole competition in their calendar this Thursday 27th September with prizes sponsored by the club. Don’t forget Matthews Week, it’s a repeater! and also ladies please put your names down for Anne McCarthy’s Winter league commencing Sunday 14th October. So plenty of golf to see us through to the new golfing season!
Due to the inclement weather last week the ladies 18 hole stableford competition reverted to a sweep. Winner with 30 points Mary Trant (13).
Lady Captain Veronica McGorman carded a fabulous 20 points to claim last week’s 9 hole sweep prize. Noirin McKenna freshly rested from her holiday in Portugal claimed the seniors prize with 13 points.
The letters drawn on Monday 17th September were RSTL and there were no winners of the 4,000 jackpot now standing at 4,100. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Daniel Whyte Clones, Hugh Doherty Clones, Albert Irwin Lisnaskea, T. Meiklehan Lisnaskea and Caroline McCaffrey Clones.
Winner of the Junior Scratch Cup with a fabulous 68 was Donal O’Reilly the nett prize went to Niall Murphy 69. The Intermediate Scratch Cup went to Paul Clerkin 82 and the nett winner Paddy McKeown with 77.
This Thursday 20th September the ladies compete in an 18 hole stableford with prizes sponsored by J Gallagher, A O’Reilly and the club.
Elaine Hamilton (16) did her best in the last Golfer of the Year competition and whilst she was successful in winning Section A in the weekly competition with a nett 79 it was not good enough to knock Mary Trant (13) off the leader board. This is Mary Trant’s 8th Golfer of the Year title along with the Silver Medal and Silver Spoon. Geraldine Fitzpatrick won the Bronze Medal and is hotly tipped to win GOY in 2013! Mary O’Toole claimed Section B in the weekly competition with a nett 76.
The winner of Section A 18 hole stableford 13th September 2012 was Una O’Reilly (19) with 31 points and Nuala Browne (29) (on a roll at the minute!) claimed Section B with 27 points.
