Once again a very smoothly run AGM with last year’s events précised by Secretary Bridie Keenan. Very detailed reports were heard from Secretary Bridie and Treasurer Doli Maguire. Veronica McGorman thanked her committee and her right hand woman Mary O’Reilly for all their help during her reign and she said she had a great year and will very much miss…….. her parking space!! She invited the new Lady Captain Roisin Kerr to accept the badge of office and in turn Roisin introduced her vice-captain a very popular choice in Brid Finlay. The committee was duly elected Secretary Eileen Kerr, Treasurer Doli Maguire, Handicap Secretary Mary Trant, Competition Secretary Vera Tighe (with assistance from Noeleen McCague and Anne McCarthy), PRO Mary Trant and the committee members elected were Bridie Keenan, Teresa Hannawin, Mary O’Reilly, Teresa Fitzpatrick, NoeleenMcCague and Anne McCarthy. Lady Captain Roisin thanked Mary O’Toole for all her hard work as handicap secretary and Bridie Keenan for her 3 years as Secretary. Both proposals put to the meeting were unanimously passed and it was agreed that the GOY and three matchplay cups should be presented at next year’s Captains’ dinner. The meeting was efficiently brought to a close and Lady Captain said she looked forward to her year ahead and working with her new committee. Lady Captain Roisin Kerr and the ladies club would like to wish the new Captain Gerard Kelly and very successful year and we all look forward to a great Centenary celebration
Team 3 have maintained their lead by 2 points after week 5 on 257 with scores from Noeleen McCague 17, Doli Maguire 15 and Teresa Hannawin 18. Team 5 are on 255 with scores from Eileen Kerr 17, Mary O’Toole 17 and Elaine Hamilton 18. Team 5 are 3rd with 248 with scores from Mary Trant 16, Veronica McGorman 16 and Celeste McKiernan 15. Team 4 in 4th with 242 Ann Keating 17, Una O’Reilly 16 and Noirin McKenna 16. In 5th are Team 2 on 196 with just one score from our new Lady Captain Roisin Kerr 16. Week 6 produced much excitement with teams 1 & 3 in equal 1st both on 309. Team 1 had scores from Teresa Fitzpatrick 16, Mary O’Toole 18 and Elaine Hamilton 20. Team 3 Catherine Farrell 14, Joy Cassidy 16 and a whopping 22 points from Teresa Hannawin. Team 5 are just 1 point ahead of team 4 on 291 Veronica McGorman 16, Celeste McKiernan 15 and Mary O’Reilly 12. Team 4 on 290 Ann Keating 16, Anne McCarthy 14 and Noirin McKenna 18. Team 2 are now on 228 with 3 scores in this week Lady Captain Roisin 17, Maureen Lynch 12 and Loreto Traynor 13. Just 2 weeks left ladies, it’s so exciting!
The Ladies club had a fabulous evening on Friday last with the major prize winners collecting their prizes, lovely grub from Aidan Fitzpatrick, a tribute poem to Veronica our outgoing LC and a fun dingbats quiz. We also had the presentation of the Maureen Lynch League prizes and we would like to thank Charlie Browne for his generous sponsorship and indeed his pledge to sponsor us again next year! Thanks also to Mary Logue for looking after our every need!
The letters drawn on 19th November were DAGY and there were no winners of the 2,100 jackpot which now rolls over to 2,200. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Tara McKenna Clones, Tracy & Daniel Whyte Clones, S. Murphy C/O AIBP Clones, Linda McCaffrey Lisnaskea and Simon McGonnell Clonfad. Well done to them!
Ladies remember it’s the presentation evening on Friday at 8.30pm. We now have a winner of the Rose Bowl matchplay congratulations to Roisin Kerr winner and runner up Vera Tighe. The result of the par pyramid is a closely guarded secret and will be revealed on the night. Supper will be supplied and all ladies are invited to attend whether you are a prize winner or not.
The first two weeks of the men’s 14 holes stableford Turkey/Ham/Voucher competition has brought in some magnificent scores. Week 1 category 0-12 Paddy McKeown 34, category 13-18 Tony Greenan 33 and category 19 and over Sean Kelleher 34. Week 2 (0-12) Leo Herbert 35, (13-18) Liam Keane with an astounding 39 and (19 and over) Charlie Browne 35.
Week 4 of the ladies winter league has Team 3 still in the lead on 209 with scores from Catherine Farrell 17, Doli Maguire 16 and a fandabydosey 21 from Teresa Hannawin. Team 1 are 2nd with 203 with scores from Eileen Kerr 16, Teresa Fitzpatrick 18 and Elaine Hamilton 17. Team 5 are 3rd with 201 scores from Vera Tighe 15, LC Veronica McGorman 18 and Celeste McKiernan 15. Team 4 are 4th with 193 Ann Keating 17, Anne McCarthy 16 and Noirin McKenna 17. Team 2 remain in 5th on 180 with scores from Lynn Whelan 16, Roisin Kerr 17 and Geraldine Fitzpatrick 14. We are at the half way stage ladies and it’s still all to play for.
The letters drawn on Monday 12th November were THWY and there were no winners of the 2000 jackpot. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Danny & Dympna Maguire Redhills, George Rice Enniskillen, James Connolly The Point had 2 lucky dips and Carmel Maguire Lisnaskea.
The outgoing captains Sean Bonner and Veronica McGorman enjoyed their celebratory evening last Saturday which included the presentation of the men’s club matchplay trophies and Golfer of the Year to Donal O’Reilly.
