18 Hole Stableford

Ladies play in an 18 hole stableford Thursday 2nd of April with prizes sponsored by Anne Wrafter and the club. The winner of the first 18 holes on March 19th was our own Lady Captain Rosita McCabe with a terrific 36 points! As there were only 11 players it reverted to a sweep. Week 2 winners were Section A (0-23) Elaine Hamilton with a whopping 37 points and Section B Doli Maguire with 34 points. We are gradually getting enough ladies playing to get 3 sections!

Draw Times for Ladies

There is a list in the locker room beside the competition book for ladies to indicate the likely draw they will attend when applicable so that other ladies will know that someone will be there to mark their cards. We will see if this works!

9 Hole Repeater for Ladies

There has been many requests for a 9 hole repeater each week for those ladies who either want to play a meaningful practice few holes or for those who just want to play 9 holes. We are hoping to persuade Maureen Lynch to run her repeater earlier this year. The usual €1 in the bottom drawer but please note if you are playing in an 18 hole competition you cannot play in the 9 too. Prize each week for winner and prize for best “senior” (over 65).

Introductory offer for Novices.

Now that there is a stretch in the evenings it is timely to inform would-be golfers of the offers available at the club.  The annual subscription for a novice is €340 for the first year and €500 for the second year. In the third and subsequent years they will be expected to pay the full subscription of €700.  All of those fees include insurance and Golf Union levies and apply to both Ladies and Gentlemen. It is important to emphasise that those offers apply only to those people who have never played golf and does not apply to new members coming from other clubs. The purpose of the offer is to try and popularise the game and in so doing increase membership.  There is no question of reducing fees to poach members from any neighbouring clubs. There is also an incentive for lapsed golfers who have not played for three years or more who may rejoin the club for a subscription of €500 for the first year back.

Alpha Bet

The letters drawn on 23rd of March were THUM and there were no winners of the 3,800 jackpot now standing at 3,900. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Phil McCrystal Lisnaskea, Sean & Terry Kelleher Carnroe, Martin McElvaney Lisnaskea, Helen Connolly Millbrook and George Rice Lisnaskea. Well done to them (I’m moving to Lisnaskea!)
