Lady Captain Geraldine Fitzpatrick and Captain Paddy McKeown official drive in took place on Sat 27th last. President Ann McCarthy was on the 1st Tee to welcome them both to the Tee where a large number of club members, family and friends were waiting to greet them. On a beautiful evening what could go wrong? Lady Captain Geraldine was 1st to drive in, she left her crutches in the capable hands of her son Gavin who handed her her Driver and proceeded to hit a perfect drive, however Captain Paddy’s plans didn’t go according to plan due to a conspiracy and a liquid lunch but with the help of his caddy Max hit an almost perfect drive.
Paul Fitzpatrick then popped the champagne cork before all returned to the clubhouse where the Ladies provided a very welcome array of sandwiches and finger food. Lady Captain Geraldine and Captain Paddy individually thanked their families and friends who came from near and far to be with them on their 1st official duty of their tenure. They also thanked all those involved in the refurbishment of the clubhouse and especially Brid Finlay and Rosita McCabe who were the driving force behind the project for the days and hours spent making sure that the members have a club house that we can be proud of. The evening ended with a music session provided by Pat McCabe, Sean McBrien, Kevin Hickey, Pat Fee, and Joe Smith.
