Men’s Club Annual General Meeting

The Men’s Club Annual General Meeting took place in the Clubhouse on Sunday 18th November. The meeting commenced by our outgoing Captain Pat welcoming all, he said he enjoyed his year as Captain and thanked everyone who had assisted in anyway throughout the year. This was followed by the reports from the various office holders. The transfer of office

of Captaincy followed with Georgie Pugh taking over at the helm, Captain Georgie introduced to the meeting Padraig Connolly as his Vice Captain. The Committee elected for the coming year are,

Tree Up!

The Christmas tree and trimmings will be put up in the clubhouse on Thursday 7th of December so come along and give a hand around 8pm.  The ladies Hampers Presentation, Birdie Tree, Par Pyramid and Medals will be at the party night on Thursday 13th of December at 9pm. Congratulations to Team 4 the winners of the Christmas Hampers Anne McCarthy, Noeleen McCague, Lady Captain Collette McCahery, Elaine Hamilton and Carmel Mulligan.

Lotto

The numbers drawn on 19th November were 9, 18, 21 and 25 and there were no winners of the 4,200 jackpot now at 4,300. Remember we are 6 tickets for a fiver and you win in the corresponding currency i.e. sterling or euro! The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Geraldine McDonald Scotshouse, Frankie Dolan Clonfad, Mary Rafferty Connons (Hoorah!), Derek Anderson Newbliss and M Murray and E McCaffrey Roslea. Well done to all!

New Lady Captain

The ladies Annual General Meeting held last Sunday was well attended and produced the usual comprehensive review of the tenure of the outgoing Lady Captain Brid Finlay by Madam Secretary Catherine Farrell followed by her Secretary’s report and the detailed report from the Treasurer Mary O’Toole. Brid thanked her committee for their support and hard work and also made mention of the volunteers who contribute so much to the running of the club. The outgoing Lady Captain thanked all the sponsors for their generous donations throughout the year. The transfer of office was made to the incoming Lady Captain Collette McCahery who introduced her Vice-Captain in her absence Bridie Keenan, which was well received. The committee were duly elected and are: ex officio Brid Finlay, Secretary Mary Trant, Treasurer Mary O’Toole, Competition Secretary/Handicap Secretary Roberta Hamilton & PRO Mary Trant and the elected members are Paula Jenkins, Loreto Traynor, Anne McCarthy, Catherine Farrell, Teresa Hanawin, Geraldine Fitzpatrick and Rosita McCabe. There were several Motions brought forward by Roberta Hamilton all of which were passed. The 3 qualifying cards to be eligible to play in the major competitions must be marked in a qualifying competition. The weekly competition will now run from Thursday and conclude Sunday, The sections will be fluid to make each section equally split and there will be no prizes for the fourball competitions which results in a day out for the winners and runners up.  A suggestion was made that draws be obsolete for the big days e.g. Lady Captain’s day this was unanimously overruled. There was a brief discussion on One Governing Body and also the change in Rules from January 2019. The meeting was brought to a close by Lady Captain Collette who offered her condolences for anyone bereaved during the year and wished everyone a successful and enjoyable coming year.

Here is a date for the calendar 2019! April 5th to the 7th is the Lady Captain’s weekend away in Glasson, Athlone please ensure you are on the list and deposit of €50 to be paid asap. Any finally, for now, Lady Captain’s day will be on Saturday July 20th 2019, so plenty happening!
