Ladies Club Party Night

The ladies Club party night was a great success which included the presentation of the Winter League Christmas hampers. The Bronze Medal was won by Bridie Keenan, Silver Medal won by Elaine Hamilton and the ILGU Silver Spoon went to Mary Trant. But the fun didn’t start until about 10pm when our Captain Georgie sang his own version of the Beatles “let it be”. Some games followed, reports are still coming in of sore jaws from all the laughing, so we’re considering it a successful night. Congrats to our new Lady Captain Collette McCahery on her first official duty, and thanks to Geraldine for the food, and to Brid for purchasing and putting together the beautiful prizes for the league. And not forgetting our most obliging barman Michael Connolly… sorry for keeping you out late Happy Christmas to all from the ladies club!

Lotto

The numbers drawn on the 10th December were 3, 15, 24 and 27 and there were no winners of the 4,500 jackpot now standing at 4,600. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Francis Lennon Ballybay, Brid Brown Ballybay, Father Gerry White Tanagh, Helen McManus Roslea and George Rice G4. Well done to them! Next week the lucky dippers will get €50, well it is Christmas. The Lotto crew were treated to a gift by way of thanks for their weekly dedication and work in doing the lotto kindly sponsored by James Connolly and they all received a nice bottle of wine or tin of biscuits. They also were presented with a fine feast of party food kindly sponsored and supplied by Packie McCarville of The Creighton Hotel Clones. The last lotto draw of the year is next Monday 17th of December and the lotto crew will be back on the Tuesday 2nd of January 2019. We would like to thank everyone who sells tickets, allows us to display our tickets boxes in the premises and particularly Liptons of Clones who display the results weekly on their digital advertising board. We are extremely grateful to everyone who buys our Lotto tickets and remember we are just 6 tickets for a FIVER!

Joint Club (Management) AGM

The Joint Club (Management) AGM was well attended on Sunday evening last and Martin Taylor opened the meeting as Club Secretary. Martin introduced President Father Jerry White who proceeded to thank all the key members that had made such a huge difference in running the club over the previous year. The Treasurer Tom Cassidy then presented his report which made satisfactory reading due in no small part to Sean Kelleher’s meticulous diligence in managing the bar finances and the finance team’s restructuring of the loan. The fund raising events also made a significant difference the Lotto and the Classic, the race night and the steak night. Huge thanks to the people who organised same.  Secretary Martin Taylor then reflected the past year’s events especially the sad passing of long time member Paddy Quigley, and mentioned those that had lost loved ones connected to the club. The 3 Motions were passed with the new position of Liaison Officer being taken up by Vice-Captain Padraig Connolly. The election of officers then ensued. Martin Taylor announced that he was not standing the forthcoming year as Secretary and nominations were sought. Brian Morgan was nominated and seconded and elected to warm applause. Brian paid tribute to Martin Taylor not only for his tenure over the last 18 months but for all his time serving the club over many years. Tom Cassidy also said he was standing down as Treasurer but as there were no nominations he would stay in situ until a replacement could be found until April 2019 only. He offered to assist the new incumbent in any way he could.

Secretary-Brian Morgan, Treasurer Tom Cassidy (temporary) and serving members Captain Georgie Pugh, vice-captain Padraig Connolly, Lady Captain Collette McCahery and vice-captain Bridie Keenan, elected members are Rosita McCabe, Kathleen Leonard, Paddy McKeown, Gerry Traynor, Pat McCabe, Brid Finlay, Roberta Hamilton and Sammy Mealiff. The meeting was brought to a close by President Father Jerry White.
