Captain’s Day Saturday

Mr Paul Jenkins Captain of Clones Golf Club hosts his Captain’s Day this coming Saturday 26th of July. The draw for playing partners is being done tonight (Monday 21st July) and gentleman are requested to arrive in good time for their tee time on the day so that the day runs as smoothly as possible. Everyone is invited to celebrate with Captain Paul at the presentation of prizes at 9.30pm and an evening of craic!

Play in 9 Holer

Ladies, Maureen Lynch did a lot of work to get the 9 holer up and running again as it was “by popular demand” but it doesn’t appear to be that well supported. Remember you can play any day, it’s over the “old 9” it’s a repeater (one card per week to count) and its only €1 to play! We congratulate the first 2 weeks winners Roberta Hamilton 18 and 21 points respectively and Senior winners Joy Cassidy 21 and Noirin McKenna 16. So go on give it a go, you never know!

Charity Stableford

Sunday 27th July (if you didn’t have too late a night at the Captain’s night!) or Thursday 31st July (imagine ladies July over!) the ladies compete in an 18 hole stableford charity event. Fee €10 prizes sponsored by Helen Connolly, Kathleen Leonard and the club.

Ladies Medal

Thursday 24th July the ladies compete in an 18 holes stroke medal DRAW with prizes sponsored by Eilen Kerr, Mary Trant and the club. As you’ve probably noticed the locker room is currently being refurbished, the competition entry unit is in the dining end of the clubhouse.

Ladies Honour Captain Paul

The ladies competed for the Captain’s Prize to the ladies last week in near perfect conditions. There were of course the usual nightmares for some of us but the winning scores were very respectable. Well done to winner Geraldine Fitzpatrick nett 71 beating Rosita McCabe on a countback into 2nd place. Elaine Hamilton had the best gross with 87.

Alpha Bet

The letters drawn on 14th July were LTQX and there was no winner of the 3,400 jackpot now standing at 3,500. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Frank McElroy Newbliss, Margaret McGinn Newbliss, Anne Maria Hickey Clones, Jimmy Watkin Lisnagore and Shaun Treacy Lisnaskea.

Lady Member’s Cup

The prestigious Lady Members’ Cup stroke medal GOY generously sponsored by Ciaran Smith Professional at Rossmore Golf Club attracted a good field of players. The Sunday golfers had tough windy conditions with blustery hefty showers and the Thursday players basked in calm warm conditions. The winner with a fabulous nett 70 came from Sunday well done Joy “good around the greens” Cassidy on this most auspicious win and a generous cut to the handicap! In 2nd place was a lady who appears to be running away with GOY at the moment, Elaine Hamilton nett 75. The gross went to Mary Trant 90. Section A (0-20) went to Una O’Reilly nett 75. Una has been conspicuous by her absence on the winners list of late. Welcome back! Section B (21-28) went to Helen Connolly nett 79 on a countback and Section C (29-36) was also won on a countback by Mary O’Toole nett 77. The ladies club are most grateful to our sponsor Ciaran Smith and for the beautiful prizes from his wonderful stock of ladies golf wear. Please support him at shop at Rossmore!
