Experience Wins Lady Captain’s Prize

It’s fair to say, that the lady who won Geraldine Fitzpatrick’s Lady Captain’s Prize has been a little disenchanted with her golf of late and even made mention that she may stop playing next year, so everyone was on their feet when the winner was announced as Maureen Lynch (36) with a nett 71 !! The cheer and standing ovation nearly took the roof off the clubhouse on Saturday night! Everyone is so delighted that Maureen won the fabulous first prize of a 2 night B & B and dinner and golf at the Slieve Russell. In her acceptance speech Maureen said that herself and Vincent would have a wonderful time at the Slieve and then let out a delighted “Yipeeeee!!” Lady Captain Geraldine had every last detail covered and her day went as smooth as clock work. The ladies arrived in good time for a chat and plenty of goodies before checking in with Nuala Browne who very kindly agreed to do the book and also did a beautiful job with the calligraphy on the score cards The ladies then head off to try and play great golf! Indeed there was some very good golf played reflected in the scores on the day. The ladies were satiated upon their return from the golf with a lovely array of goodies catered by Aidan Fitzpatrick Cavan Country Produce Limited and the lovely Emma looked after everyone’s needs. It was nice to see Veronica McGorman with Gussie in the clubhouse and all the ladies took time with her to catch up with the news. The golfers went home to beautify themselves whilst Lady Captain hosted dinner with her family, friends and invited VIPs. The evening’s main event, the presentation was started very shortly after 9.30pm, as Geraldine was determined to ensure she kept to her time table. No one is a fan of reverse order announcements on Lady Captain’s Day BUT when it was revealed who had won, it went down a storm! Madam President Anne McCarthy kept everyone in suspense right to the last minute! It made the day! The full results for Geraldine Fitzpatrick’s Lady Captain’s Day 2016 are :
