There was a very large field of players in Tommy O’Harte’s Captain’s Prize to the Ladies last week which shows how popular and well respected he is. The 18 hole stroke GOY was played in near perfect conditions and with the course in pristine condition it was no surprise that one of the lowest scores of the season claimed 1st prize. Congratulations to Una O’Reilly (20) who played unremarkable but very steady golf and carded a nett 67. A great score and a hefty 2 shot cut to the handicap! In second place is the tipped Golfer of the Year this year Roisin Kerr (21) who also played her usual steady game and managed 5 pars in the round finishing with 71 nett. The gross went to Mary Trant with 87. Mary managed a massive 9 pars in the round but undid her good work with two treble bogies and a double bogey. However it was still the lowest gross score recorded on the new course! Congratulations to Helen Connolly on her fabulous birdie on the 13th, chipped in from off the green!
The ladies will be presented with their prizes on Saturday August 27th at Tommy O’Harte’s Captain’s Day celebrations. Lady Captain Noeleen McCague and the ladies club wish Tommy the best of luck for his day.
