Spring is definitely in the air! There were 40 entries for week one of the Ladies Spring League and whilst scores are not to hand as we go to press there are a couple of highlights worth a mention. Brid Finlay, who admits herself was no addition to the two previous team leagues, managed a fabulous 19 points for the 9 holes in week 1. Also Elaine Hamilton has already scribed two birdies on the eclectic card one of which at the testing 5th! Elaine and her playing partner searched for a while to find the resting spot of her third shot and Elaine jokingly said “let’s look in the hole” and hey presto there it was! Well done, hope the rest of the card was worthy of such a fine birdie! The Spring League over the “old 9” is just €3 to play and you can play as often as your legs will allow but only one score from each participant each week. 3 cards from each team to count each week. Also there is an eclectic card for pars and birdies. Team 1 is Mary O’Toole (c), Anne McCarthy, Mary Trant, Helen Connolly and Celseta McKiernan . Team 2 Roisin Kerr (c), Ann Keating, Brid Finlay (who incidentally had a blinding start to the league so watch out!), Doli Maguire and Geraldine Igoe. Team 3 Teresa Fitzpatrick (c), Elaine Hamilton (what a birdie!), Noeleen McCague, Kathleen Leonard (the traveller returns!) and Maureen Lynch (a whole team of past Lady Captains!) Team 4 Teresa Hanawin (c), Lynn Whelan, Joy Cassidy, Marion Foy, Eileen Kerr and Bridie Keenan and Team 5 Lady Captain Veronica (c) Vera Tighe, Rosita McCabe, Geraldine Fitzpatrick, Noirin McKenna and Mary O’Reilly. So ladies get your team strategy sorted and may the best team win!
