Lady Captain’s Day Results

Another scorching day last Saturday greeted the ladies set to play in Roisin Kerr’s Lady Captain’s Day. The ladies were greeted with tea and nibbles and a lovely goody bag from the Lady Captain before they set off to play golf. The course was extremely dry and challenging and the greens tricky as they were slower than normal. The ladies were met at the half way stage by one of Roisin’s daughters and Roisin’s sister Josephine with burgers to ensure that no one got hungry on the last leg. The winner was announced at the presentation shortly after a poem was recited in Roisin’s honour. Lady Captain then made her speech (looking resplendent in green)
thanking everyone who had contributed to the success of the day. Brid Finlay (19) was announced as the 2013 winner with a net 70 and a 2 shot cut to her handicap! Elaine Hamilton (15) a 3 time previous winner was runner up with net 71 she too received a cut and now plays off 14 and the gross winner with 85 was Mary Trant (13), who promised to publicly thank her playing partners whom she forget to mention in her acceptance speech, so thank you Joy and Noeleen! Section A-Ann Keating (18) net 74, Section B-Eileen Kerr (26) nett72 and Section C-Nuala Browne (29) nett 72 ( all so very close!!) The front 9 was won
by Veronica McGorman 36 and the back 9 went to Teresa Hannawin 35½. The past Captain’s prize Kathleen Leonard (28) nett 73 and the Committee prize Bridie Keenan (36) nett 73. This was Bridie first ever prize at Clones Golf Club and she was thrilled! Amen Corner was won by Celesta McKiernan. The men’s prize for the 14 hole stableford repeater went to Micky Connolly 35 points and the Vice Captain Paul Jenkins was just pipped into second with 34 points. Everyone agreed that the prizes were splendid and that the Lady Captain had chosen well. The evening
progressed with dinner and then dancing. A good night was had by all and everyone wishes LC a continued good year and congratulations for fabulous day which went without a hitch.
