2020 Captain’s Drive In

Our 2020 Golfing Year officially kicked off on Sunday evening last with the Captain
and Lady Captain’s Drive In taking place. The Drive In which had been deferred from
the Saturday due to the inclement weather took place in excellent weather conditions.
In the Drive In we were treated to two excellent shots from both our Lady Captain,
(Ms. Bridie Keenan) followed by our Captain (Mr. Padraig Connolly), we did not expect
anything less.
The following were the Winners of the Drive In Competitions,
Ladies Competition,
1st.    Brid Finlay, 2nd Roisin Kerr (on count back) 3rd Collette McCahery).
Gents Competition.
1st.    Fintan Flynn, 2nd Denis Dougan.
Following the Presentation of Prizes both Captain’s thanked all who had competed in
the Drive In Competitions and who had turned out for their Drive In.
Our President (Ms. Catherine Farrell) on behalf of the Club wished both Captains a
great golfing year ahead.
We would like to thank the wonderful Ladies Club for the fine array of refreshments
they put up following the Drive In, they never disappoint, thank you again Ladies.

Captain/ Lady Captains Drive- In

We held our Captain/Lady Captains Drive- In on Saturday last, we were treated to two excellent Drives, first off was our Lady Captain, Collette followed by Captain Georgie, we have visions of seeing Captain Georgie competing on the professional circuit down the tracks, though time is probably against him. We would like to thank the Ladies Committee, (they never disappoint) for providing an excellent array of food and also to Pat McCabe

and his orchestra for providing the music following the Drive-In.

Captain/Lady Captain’s Drive In Saturday

The Captain (Mr. Georgie Pugh) and Lady Captain Ms Collette McCahery takes place on Saturday next 23rd at 5pm. To honour the Captain’s a 3 Person Team Event (any combination) will be held on the Saturday, all members are asked to please come

and participate. Following on from the Drive In we will be entertained in the Clubhouse by the usual host of musicians, a very enjoyable evening is promised with Captain Georgie promising to do his party piece. We wish both Captains  a very enjoyable and successful year ahead. The ladies club have very generously arranged to provide sustenance for the assembled crowd.

Captains Drive -In.

Captains (Mr Pat McCabe) and Lady Captain (Mrs Brid Finlay) Drive In took place on Saturday evening last. In excellent weather conditions both Captains stepped on to the Tee Box and sent their respective drives straight down the middle of the fairway (we did not expect it to be any different). Our thanks to our excellent Ladies Club for the organising and dishing out of refreshments. A great night of music, song, and storytelling followed which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present

 

Captains’ Drive In

Lady Captain Teresa Fitzpatrick and Captain Joe Smith’s official drive in took place on Saturday 18th last. President Ann McCarthy was on the 1st Tee to welcome them both to the Tee where a large number of club members, family and friends were waiting to greet them. On a beautiful evening what could go wrong? Lady Captain Teresa was 1st to drive in, she was handed her trusty driver by her grandson and proceeded to hit a perfect drive, to enthusiastic applause. Captain Joe then stepped forward and he too made a pretty good job of his official drive sadly he lost his tee!! All can be seen on Facebook Clones Golf Club’ page!

Paul Fitzpatrick then popped the champagne cork before all returned to the clubhouse where the Ladies provided a very welcome array of sandwiches and finger food and The Creighton Hotel, Clones provided the hot nibbles, thank you Packie McCarville. Lady Captain Teresa and Captain Joe individually thanked their families and friends who came from near and far to be with them on their 1st official duty of their tenure. They also thanked all those who took part in the respective competitions to honour them and the ladies presentation took place for the 9 hole stableford. 1st Brid Finlay 25 points, 2nd a very chuffed Loreto Traynor with 24 points and 3rd Elaine Hamilton 23 points.  The evening ended with a raffle thanks to Gerry Brady who has secured sponsorship from PanEuro Foods for a Raffle run from Saturday 28th January up to the Captains` Drive in. The prize of €200 Frozen Food Hamper was won by son of Mike Keane! A music session provided by Pat McCabe, Peter McGeough, Pat Fee, P J McCague and Joe Smith the rounded off the evening very well.

Captains’ Drive-In Saturday

The Captain (Mr Joe Smith) and Lady Captain (Mrs. Teresa Hanawin) Drive-In takes place on Saturday February 18th at 5pm. For the Captains Drive -In a 3person Team is presently in operation and will conclude on the day of the Drive-In, for the Lady Captain there is a 9 hole stableford repeater. Members are asked to please support. The Drive-In will be followed by refreshments and music in the Clubhouse.
