There was a large and representative attendance of members at the club on Saturday evening to support the Captain, Gerard Kelly and the Lady Captain, Roisin Kerr as they engaged in the traditional Drive-In to launch the 2013 golfing season. As is her wont, Roisin hit a wonderful drive down the middle and despite the resultant pressure and not to be outdone, Gerard, with that classic swing of his followed with an equally impressive drive. Their performances richly deserved the bubbly presented to them afterwards by the President. The members withdrew to the clubhouse where they enjoyed excellent refreshments generously provided by the ladies. In her address, Roisin said that she took on the job with great trepidation but with the support and goodwill she has received to date was very confident of doing a good job during her year of office. Gerard then outlined his program and ambitions for the centenary year, the highlights of which were a twinning arrangement with Letterkenny G. C who are also celebrating their centenary, a centenary book outlining the history of the club, an extended Open Week, visits from the G.U.I. and a centenary ball in October, all details of which will be announced later. Kevin Hickey complimented both Captains for their input to date and expressed the consensus view that the club were privileged to have people of the calibre of Gerard and Roisin to lead it during this important year.
