Lady Captain’s Weekend Away

Lady Captain Collette McCahery hosted her weekend away at Glasson last weekend and it was very much enjoyed by all who attended. The ladies loved the course (but not the bunkers!) and Lady Captain had the best score BUT graciously refused the prize. Thanks to Dennis for his generous donation! Some of the ladies still had the energy to come back to Clones to play in the weekly competition on Sunday and a particular mention to Roberta Hamilton who started and finished her front 9 with birdies carding 22 points for the 9 holes!

New Lady Captain

The ladies Annual General Meeting held last Sunday was well attended and produced the usual comprehensive review of the tenure of the outgoing Lady Captain Brid Finlay by Madam Secretary Catherine Farrell followed by her Secretary’s report and the detailed report from the Treasurer Mary O’Toole. Brid thanked her committee for their support and hard work and also made mention of the volunteers who contribute so much to the running of the club. The outgoing Lady Captain thanked all the sponsors for their generous donations throughout the year. The transfer of office was made to the incoming Lady Captain Collette McCahery who introduced her Vice-Captain in her absence Bridie Keenan, which was well received. The committee were duly elected and are: ex officio Brid Finlay, Secretary Mary Trant, Treasurer Mary O’Toole, Competition Secretary/Handicap Secretary Roberta Hamilton & PRO Mary Trant and the elected members are Paula Jenkins, Loreto Traynor, Anne McCarthy, Catherine Farrell, Teresa Hanawin, Geraldine Fitzpatrick and Rosita McCabe. There were several Motions brought forward by Roberta Hamilton all of which were passed. The 3 qualifying cards to be eligible to play in the major competitions must be marked in a qualifying competition. The weekly competition will now run from Thursday and conclude Sunday, The sections will be fluid to make each section equally split and there will be no prizes for the fourball competitions which results in a day out for the winners and runners up.  A suggestion was made that draws be obsolete for the big days e.g. Lady Captain’s day this was unanimously overruled. There was a brief discussion on One Governing Body and also the change in Rules from January 2019. The meeting was brought to a close by Lady Captain Collette who offered her condolences for anyone bereaved during the year and wished everyone a successful and enjoyable coming year.
