The clubhouse looked splendid and beautifully decorated by the ladies a real festive treat! Our shiny new Lady Captain Teresa Hanawin presided over her first presentation evening and what a pleasant task presenting the Christmas Hampers to the winning Winter League Team 5 of Catherine Farrell, team captain, Elaine Hamilton, Una O’Reilly, Marion Foy, Helen Connolly, and Bridie Keenan with 316 points. Well done ladies some fantastic scores especially in the final week with 22 Elaine and 18 from Catherine and Helen. They certainly didn’t take their foot of the gas! Just 7 points behind in 2nd place were Team 3 Vera Tighe, Mary Trant, Noeleen McCague, Mary O’Toole, Ann Wrafter and Roisin Kerr. 3rd were Team 4 on 300 Roberta Hamilton, Anne McCarthy, Teresa Hanawin, Eileen Kerr, Noirin McKenna and Loretto Traynor. In 4th place were Team 1 Kathleen Leonard, Rosita McCabe, Irene Rooney, Teresa Fitzpatrick, Paula Jenkins, and Beatrice Crudden and bringing up the rear were Team 2, Geraldine Fitzpatrick, Joy Cassidy, Irene McConkey, Kathleen McCabe Gibbons, Celeste McKiernan, Gio McKeever and Brid Finlay who were at clear disadvantage due to injuries and operations. A huge thank you to Teresa Hanawin for taking over and running this league and for keeping us swinging well into the winter months, to Brid and her buyers for the fabulous prizes and yes everybody got a prize! To the ladies who paid and played in all conditions, you will be delighted to learn that over €1,040.00 was taken in. Once we’ve deducted the prize costs that’s going to the club! Keeping the last few weeks scoring secret appears to have had a positive effect in keeping everyone playing to the bitter end! Thank you to the ladies who brought nibbles and foosies which made up the wonderful banquet of goodies and to everyone who was able to come along and enjoy the party night. Hopefully Lady Captain Teresa will be putting up the list for the Spring League shortly!!
