The Spring League starts this Sunday February 4th and will incorporate a 14 hole eclectic competition for those wishing to do 14 holes! The League will gently start with 9 holes BUT may increase as the league progresses. Please get your names down in the locker room as soon as possible to facilitate the draw for teams!
The ladies spring league concludes on Saturday 18th March. Thank you to Lady Captain Teresa Hanawin for running this ever popular event to keep us at it early in the year! Results will be revealed shortly but scores of note were from Brid Finlay 22, Elaine Hamilton 21, Lady Captain Teresa 20, Noeleen McCague 22, Helen Connolly 22 and Roisin Kerr 20
Plenty of activity and great scores coming in from the ladies over the past couple of weeks in the Spring League. Lady Captain Teresa Hanawin has asked for the scores to be withheld for the last 3 weeks of the competition to make sure everyone keeps going! Don’t forget week number, Team number and handicap must be on the card, don’t forget to sign it and…….don’t forget to put it in the drawer! The score keeper isn’t clairvoyant!
The Ladies Spring League will now start on Sunday 14th of February and will be teams of 5 (best 3 cards each week to count) stableford format. There was some confusion as to which holes the league is over so the Competition Secretary has decided to cancel week 1 and the league will start now on Sunday 14th February see information in locker room regarding the holes in play for this league. The draw for teams has been done so please be committed to play each week to be fair to the other team members. Sadly we have lost Lady Captain Geraldine Fitzpatrick from her team due to injury she sustained from cleaning windows! So ladies leave the windows, it’s not safe! Seriously, we wish Lady Captain a speedy recover from her unfortunate fracture
The Ladies Spring League starts on Sunday 7th of February and will be teams of 5 (best 3 cards each week to count) stableford format over the “old 9 holes”. The draw for teams will be done shortly so please get your names down now. You must be committed to play each week to be fair to the other team members.
Week 4 of the ladies Spring League has shaken things up a bit with Team 3 pulling ahead by 4 points on 215. Team 2 on 211 are 2nd and Team 4 just behind on 209, due in no small part to Teresa Hanawin who carded 20 points! Teresa is the week 4 winner and gets cut a shot for her trouble! Just 1 point further back are Team 5 on 208 and in 5th place are Team 1 on 176. Huge congratulations to Paula Jenkins who had a par on the Par 5! Whoop Whoop!! Only two more weeks so keep going ladies!
The first week of the Spring League is now behind us and by all accounts some fine scores were returned. Talk of a 23 pointer in ??? I think that might warrant the 1 shot chop from the handicap! Please put you team number and week number on the card, also if you are playing in the 9 hole Lady Captain’s Drive In competition please complete another card and clearly mark it thus.
Despite the view hindering thick freezing fog on Sunday last, 14 ladies braved the conditions to commence the Spring League with some very respectable scores being carded for the “old course” 9 hole stableford. The teams are up in the locker room and Ann McCarthy is your point of reference for any queries. Remember ladies the best score each week not only loses a shot (just for the league!) but wins a weekly prize too! So bitter sweet!! This league runs until 21st March and its just €3 each time you play (you can play as often as you wish but only one of your scores will count) Best 3 cards from each team to count each week.
The Anne McCarthy Spring League starts on Sunday 8th of February to 21st March. We will know nearer the date which holes we are playing but as an added twist this time the top scorer each week will not only win a prize But they will also be cut a shot (just for the league purposes) to keep everyone in with a chance right up to the end! In the event of teams tying at the end, there will be a one day play off on Sunday 22nd of March!! Soooo exciting! Ladies please put your names in the locker room, don’t put down anyone else’s name just ring them to remind them to put their names down to avoid any confusion. Thank you and may the best team win!
Week 6 saw Team 1 take a narrow 1 point lead on 301 with scores from Teresa Fitzpatrick 17, a fabulous 23 from Roberta Hamilton and 21 from Vera Tighe. Team 3 are on 300 with scores from Ann McCarthy 17, Teresa Hanawin 17 and Brid Finlay 18. Team 4 are 3rd on 290 with Celeste McKiernan 16, Catherine Farrell 15 and Lady Captain Rosita McCabe 18. Team 2 are 4th on 265 with scores from Una O’Reilly 15, Mary O’Toole 13 and Joy Cassidy 14. Still holding their position are Team 5 on 262 with Doli Maguire 16, Kathleen Leonard 17 and a paltry 8 points from Mary Trant. The final results will be announced at the Party Night on Friday!!
