The presentation of prizes for Matthews of Clones and McCaughey Fuels will take place on Monday 13th November after Lotto at 9pm.
The results of the Matthews of Clones and McCaughey Fuels sponsored stableford repeater are Men: 1st Michael Connolly 42 points, 2nd Gary McCrudden 42 you may remember that Gary was second in this competition last year! and 3rd Benny Igoe with 41 points. The ladies winner was Brid Finlay 38 points, 2nd Doli Maguire 36 and Roberta Hamilton 31. The Matthews of Clones stableford repeater for ladies and gents concluded on Sunday and the prizes will be presented at the lotto night on Monday 10th of October. The ever popular Matthews of Clones semi open 18 hole single stableford repeater for both Ladies and Gents has started and runs until Sunday October 2nd. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for both ladies and gents, generously sponsored by Eugene and Mary McCaughey of Matthews of Clones. Entry fee €8 and €5 to repeat. Presentation on Monday 10th October at the Lotto. Stableford format (Yellow tees for men). No handicap cuts. This is the 25th consecutive year that Matthews of Clones have supported Clones Golf Club and we are extremely grateful to them.
The ever popular Matthews of Clones competition which ran from Friday 25th of September and concluded on Sunday 4th of October was extremely well supported and we are very grateful to Eugene and Mary McCaughey of Matthews of Clones for their continued generous sponsorship of this event. The presentation was on Monday 12th October at the Alpha Bet. This is the 24th consecutive year that Matthews of Clones have supported Clones Golf Club and we are extremely grateful to them. The Men’s winner with a whopping 45 points was once again Paddy Kerr in 2nd place was Gareth Beattie with 44 points and Melvin Brogan was 3rd with 43 points on a countback from numerous other similar scores. The ladies winner was Lady Captain Rosita McCabe with 35 points and she also had the best score for 2nd place but generously decided to decline the prize which meant Brid Finlay was 2nd with 34 points and Geraldine Fitzpatrick came 3rd with 33 points also on a countback from other similar scores. The prizes were absolutely fabulous and thanks again to Eugene and Mary McCaughey for the fill of oil for 1st, the meal for two at the Olde Post Inn for 2nd and the meal at The Creighton Hotel for 3rd. Thank you to everyone who took part.
Once again a hugely successful Matthews’ Week generously sponsored for the 21st year by Genie and Mary McCaughey of Matthews of Clones and McCaughey Fuels. There was plenty of opportunity for everyone to take part and as it was a repeater there were chances to double up on the prizes! Huge congratulations to Lady Captain Roisin Kerr who not only
claimed first prize (€150 meal voucher for The Olde Post) with 35 points but also won 2nd prize with 34 points (€100 fuel voucher) Roisin was
last on the course on the last day with hubby Paddy, in the pouring rain,
determined to bring in better than she had already carded, Job done! Well done! 3rd place (€50 fuel voucher) went to Ann McCarthy with 33 points. It
will certainly be a fine dining experience for the Kerrs as husband Paddy
claimed first prize in the men’s competition with 44 points also winning €150 meal voucher for The Olde Post !
