The Ladies Spring League starts on Sunday 7th of February and will be teams of 5 (best 3 cards each week to count) stableford format over the “old 9 holes”. The draw for teams will be done shortly so please get your names down now. You must be committed to play each week to be fair to the other team members.
Week 4 underway now and the week 3 winner was Elaine Hamilton with 20 points on a countback. Team 3 are leading by just 1 point on 166 from Team 2 on 165. Team 5 are 3rd on 157 and Team 4 are 4th on 154. Team 1 are trailing on 126 only two cards returned for them! Keep going ladies!
The men’s Harte Peat Spring League has commenced with some big scores being carded, our thanks to Harte Peat for their continuous Sponsorship of the event.

The last 2 weeks were tense in the ladies 12 hole Spring League and fighting nip and tuck for 1st place were teams 1 and 2. The scores for the penultimate week saw Team 1 creep in to first place by a mere 1 point! Scores in Team 1 came from Elaine Hamilton 26, Mary O’Toole 22 and Helen Connolly 22. Team 2 Martha O’Grady 22 (yeah! the team captain!) Noeleen McCague 24 and Anne McCarthy 23. Team 5 on 234 had scores from Teresa Hanawin 24 and 19′s from Lady Captain Brid and Celeste McKiernan. Team 3 Kathleen Leonard 20 Veronica McGorman 24 and 18 from Catherine Farrell. Finally Team 4 despite bringing up the rear for most of the competition still strove to compete and fabulous scores came in from Noirin McKenna 23, Doli Maguire 22 and Roberta Hamilton 17. The final week saw Elaine Hamilton playing every day to try and better her 25 points but alas….. Congratulations to Team 2 who hung on in there and produced some blistering scores in the final week to claim first place by 5 points despite a 1 point lag after week 4! Mary Trant 24, Noeleen McCague 25 and a hum dinger of a 27 from Anne McCarthy !! totalling 318 Well done to the rest of the team for all their hard work Anne Wrafter, Martha (team Captain) and Teresa (a miracle has happened since my accident) Fitzpatrick! A Great win! In 2nd place were Elaine Hamilton 25 (one of the best scorers of the tournament off 14!), Mary O’Toole 20 and Joy Cassidy 25 giving them 313 total. Well done to the other team members Bridie Keenan (team captain) Kathleen Gibbons, and Helen Connolly. Phew well that’s it for another season folks! Roll on the Winter League eh? The final week ladies and all very exciting! This league ends on Saturday 15th March. Well done Elaine Hamilton 26 points with 5 pars and a birdie at the lakes! One to watch for Golfer of The Year me thinks! Team 1 are just 1 point ahead of Team 2 and Team 5 have fallen 8 points behind. This league finishes on Saturday full results next week. Don’t forget the Paddy’s Weekend Team of 3 (any combination) also all ladies team prize to play for. You can play in this team event from Friday alongside the league and on Sunday the first 18 holes stableford of the year! Wow!
The 12 hole ladies Spring League is now into its 3rd week and it’s all very exciting with some great scores being produced from particularly the low handicap ladies. Week 1 saw Team 2 take the lead on 56 with scores from Mary Trant 16, Noeleen McCage 20 and Anne McCarthy 20. Team 1 were 2nd on 53 with a whopping 23 from Elaine Hamilton, Helen Connolly 17 and Joy Cassidy 13, just in 3rd were Team 5 on 52 well done Rosita McCabe 22, Teresa Hanawin 16 and LC Brid 14. Team 3 were 4th on 46 with scores from Loretto Traynor 15, Veronica McGorman 21 and Irene McConkey 10. In 5th place Team 4 with scores from Roberta Hamilton, Doli Maguire and Geraldine Fitzpatrick. In week 2 there was a bit of a turn around with Team 5 steaming ahead on 118 with huge scores from Rosita McCabe 21, Teresa Hanawin 22 and Lady Captain Brid 23 (well it was half term and she was out every day!). Team 2 and 1 share 2nd spot on 112 well done Martha O’Grady 13, Noeleen McCague 23 and Anne McCarthy 20 and Elaine Hamilton another huge score 24, Mary O’Toole 16 and Joy Cassidy 19, in 4th place are Team 3 on 107 with scores from Roisin Kerr 19, also Kathleen Leonard 19 and Veronica McGorman 23. Team 4 are struggling to make up ground but made a valiant 50 points coming from Doli Maguire 20 Noirin McKenna and Geraldine Fitzpatrick both 15. Well done to everyone.
The ladies Spring League started with a bang on Sunday with nearly half the players out in cold but sunny conditions (apart from the hail storm!) One excellent score was carded by Lady Vice Captain, the rest of the ladies will no doubt be on the course this week. Many thanks to Roberta for the lovely buns which awaited us when we got back to the clubhouse! The Spring League is due to commence on Monday next 20th January. Members are reminded that a sheet is posted in the locker room, there are still a number of team places available, so please enter your team as soon as possible.
