THE COURSE
Clones Golf Club, established in 1913, is located at Hilton Park, 2.5 miles from Clones on the N3 national route from the midlands through to Belfast. The current 18 hole course, laid over approximately 155 acres of rolling parklands, was designed by Dr Arthur Spring and was officially opened by Barry McGuigan on 1st August 2001. In 2005 another 2 holes were brought into play and 2 of the original holes of the 9 hole course, both of which are Par 3’s, have been rested for a few years now.
The course, which is set in rolling woodland, is now highly acclaimed and is an ideal venue for the society golfer. It is an all-weather open Parkland Course with many water features open all year around and renowned for the quality of its Greens. When other local courses are closed during adverse weather conditions, Clones is generally playable. It is a challenging course for all levels of ability. The overall design and the natural rolling landscape and surrounding countryside make for a particularly scenic course.
